Third Trek - When I connected to Trees and ate Taryambal (Wild fig)

My third trek. This time as always I was very excited and enthusiastic , I packed my bag also myself. My mom asked me to take complete responsibility of the treks now. So i packed our bag. This time I was asked to choose the trek route. In himachal , the most beautiful thing is that wherever you see, there is a trek route in mountains. All you need is to decide that you want to walk in the nature. So I chose a trek which seemed to be a downward trek. walking deep into the mountain forest. It was just in the mountain ahead of our residence. In the second trek we walked upwards and this time I decided to walk downwards towards the forest and the stream which is visible from our home. So we gave ourselves a target of 4 hours and decided to start the Trek . We started walking around 2:30 pm and took just one bag with us with many water bottles, chocolates and tea.

The moment we reached the bottom of the mountain, I climbed this huge rock and my mom clicked this pic. I was excited as this time the walk was like on wild forest terrains and nothing to climb up. I wanted to keep it light this time and just walk in the forest. I was not feeling very energetic today but i also wanted to be out , didn't want to sit at home so just walking in the wilderness was like perfect thing to do. WE started talking and walked past many village homes, we could also see a small white temple at the distant hill side and targeted to reach there. We were also clicking pictures on the way of various birds we saw. AS we started walking on the forest terrains, the stream was getting far and far down hill. My mom asked me to "talk less and listen more, while walking in the forest". I loved that.

This was a small ridge we found after walking for 2 hours. Very silent, very sunny and very breezy. me and my mom sat here quietly, for at least 40 minutes. We listened to the gentle breeze and i first time ever realised how beautiful forests are and how beautiful this silence is. Trust me, if you have walked the forests, just sit and listen to the silence, quietly. its beautiful. I walked around this small area, sat on this small rock, which looks exactly like a bench. nature made it. I touched trees, and never ever was i so silent ever in my life, didn't feel the need to talk. There is something really magical about the mountains and the forests. me and my mom sat here some more time , she had her tea and i grabbed a chocolate and we started walking ahead, ideally we should have walked back as we wanted to walk for 4 hours only but this was so beautiful that we didn't want to go back yet. so we kept walking ahead .

"The surprise element - Wild fig - Taryambal fruit"

This was the most beautiful surprise of this trek. My mom found these trees on the trek ahead and was so excited that she couldn't stop herself from climbing this tree. She told me that this is Taryambal, this is kind of a wild fig. She plucked one or two, which were little ripe, slightly pinkish on the outside, it was gooey kind of fruit with plenty seeds and gel like inner core, honestly i thought its very squishy and I couldn't really eat it. Then mumma ate it with too much joy and showed me how to eat it. I took one small bite and it actually tasted good, it was sweet and gooey , somewhat like chiku and custard apple. A perfect fruit on a walk. WE ate two three Taryambal and then decided to walk back. WE also decided to take few fruits back with us in my bag. I kept it in my bag. WE decided that we will come back in a week again on the same trek, the fruits will be ripened by then and we can have a lot more then. this was really and interesting discovery. I am so surprised on every trek that forests and wild life has so much to offer.

The magnanimous, loaded tree of Taryambal. Until we meet next time:)
